Practical informations
Arrival and departure : Cargèse is located on the west coast of Corsica, the nearest airport and port are in Ajaccio. Other routes are possible, but be aware of the scarcity of public transport in Corsica. Driving across Corsica is scenic, but can be time consuming. Arrival is scheduled for Sunday, October 22th in the afternoon and departure for Saturday, October28th in the morning.
Shuttles bus from Ajaccio airport to Cargèse and back will be available for arrival / departure. Participants must arrive at Ajaccio airport on October 22th in the afternoon, ideally before 6 p.m. Departure by bus from Cargèse to Ajaccio is scheduled for October 28th at 8 a.m. Please plan your departure by plane from Ajaccio airport from 10:30 a.m. (it takes about 90 minutes to reach the airport).
Will the bus be waiting?
The bus leaves on time and will not wait (unless the planes are late). We therefore recommend that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please plan your travel schedule accordingly. If you miss the last bus, you are responsible for your own transportation.
FYI: The day rate taxi costs €120 and night rate, Sundays and public holidays €160.
Accommodation and catering
Accommodation, for the duration of the school, will be arranged by the staff of the Institute, in the basis of shared double room. During registration you can indicate someone to share the room with. Some apartments are directly on site at the Institute while others are located in the village (20min walk). Please note that only bed linen and towels are provided. Please bring your toiletry bag and beach towel.
Catering Breakfasts, lunches and coffee breaks are included in the accommodation package. The conference dinner (thursday October 26th) is also included. Evening meals are not covered in the package and will be at the discretion of the participants (In the center of Cargèse, there are many restaurants in town and food shops ). Please note that there is 20 min walk to the center or Cargèse, it is therefore necessary to provide adequate shoes and a flashlight for night returns.
